Australia, the five-time champions, have now solidified their 15-member roster for the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
Initially, they had put forth an 18-player preliminary squad for this 50-over spectacle just last month. However, with the World Cup set to kick off in India in less than a month, they've pruned it down to the final 15.
The trio of Aaron Hardie, Nathan Ellis, and Tanveer Sangha, who displayed immense potential, didn't make the cut. Instead, the selectors have leaned toward seasoned players for the majority of their final roster. Notably absent from the lineup is the Test sensation Marnus Labuschagne.
Pat Cummins, the fast-bowling dynamo, will once again lead the team. He'll receive support in the new ball department from experienced bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc. Sean Abbott, the backup pacer, has been preferred over Ellis.

Currently, Australia is in South Africa gearing up for a five-game ODI series against the Proteas. Following that, they'll head to the sub-continent for a three-match ODI series against India at the end of this month. The team will fine-tune their preparations with official warm-up matches against the Netherlands and Pakistan. Their inaugural clash at this year's event is slated against the hosts, India, in Chennai on October 8.
While a few of Australia's star players are nursing minor injuries, George Bailey, the selection chair, remains optimistic that all 15 players will participate in the India series later this month and be declared fit before the final squad submission deadline to the ICC on September 28.
